How can you see who a TikTok account follows?

Open the profile in the TikTok app and tap Following: if the account shows the list, you can scroll it. To work with the list (sort it, filter it, compare it with another account), connect ChatGPT or Claude to StoriesFly and ask. The assistant reads the following or followers list of a public account page by page and analyzes it. If the account has hidden the list, nobody outside can read it, and the assistant tells you it is hidden.

Updated October 2026.

Below: why this is hard to do with AI tools today, how to connect, prompts with request counts, and what "hidden" means.

Why most AI tools can't do this yet

Without a connector, ChatGPT and Claude can't open TikTok at all. With a connector, most of the TikTok MCP servers we looked at in October 2026 focus on videos, trends and search. In the pages we read for our MCP server comparison, we did not find TikTok followers or following lists offered through an MCP connection, apart from separate Apify actors you pick and run yourself. That may change, and we may have missed one, but it is why we built these tools into the StoriesFly connection.

StoriesFly reads, for a public TikTok account:

  • the following list: accounts it follows;
  • the followers list: accounts that follow it;
  • reposts: videos it reposted;
  • the profile, videos and stories.

Each account in a list comes with its username, name, picture, verified badge, whether it is private, and its own followers, following, likes and video counts where TikTok gives exact numbers.

Setup

Steps are on the connect page.

  • ChatGPT (Free plan included): Plugins → Add → Add custom MCP server → https://storiesfly.com/mcp → OAuth → Connect → sign in with Telegram.
  • Claude: Customize → Connectors → Add custom connector → same address → Connect → sign in with Telegram.
  • Claude Code / Cursor: same address; commands on the connect page.

The first 100 requests are free, once per Telegram account. You never log in to TikTok with your own account, and your account never appears among a story's viewers.

Prompts that work

Who does this account follow?

Read the first page of accounts @zest.kitchen follows on TikTok.
Group them: creators, brands, friends/personal, other. Show follower counts.

Cost: 1 request per page.

Who did they follow recently?

The following list usually starts with the most recent follows, so the first page is the place to look for new ones.

Read the first page of @zest.kitchen's following list. Which accounts
are small (under 10K followers)? Those are more likely to be personal
follows or new collaborators than big names.

Cost: 1 request.

To see changes over time, save the list and compare it with a fresh read a week later:

Here is last week's following list of @zest.kitchen [paste].
Read the first two pages again and tell me who is new and who is gone.

Cost: 2 requests. For an automatic version without AI, the TikTok recent followers and TikTok following viewer pages do this on the site.

Who follows this account?

Read the first 3 pages of @tinyoven's followers. How many look like real
people (picture, some videos, normal names) vs empty accounts?
What share are private?

Cost: 3 requests. This is a sample of the follower base, useful for a quick quality check before working with a creator. See how to vet influencers with AI for the full routine.

Mutual follows between two accounts

Read the following lists of @account_a and @account_b, 2 pages each.
Which accounts do both follow?

Cost: 4 requests. Good for finding the core accounts of a niche: the ones that everybody in it follows.

Following list plus reposts

Read the first page of @account's following and its latest reposts.
Does it repost the accounts it follows, or other people?

Cost: 2 requests.

Why some lists are hidden

TikTok's privacy settings let each user choose who can see their following list, and separately their followers list: everyone, or a narrower circle down to only themselves. Private accounts show neither list to people who don't follow them.

When a list is hidden:

  • StoriesFly returns an empty page with hidden set to true.
  • The assistant says the list is hidden rather than "this account follows nobody".
  • The request is still charged, because the answer ("hidden") is information about the account.

In practice many TikTok accounts hide their following list. When it is hidden, you can still learn about the account from:

  • its followers list, if that one is shown;
  • its reposts, which often point to the creators it follows and likes;
  • the mentions and duets in its video captions, which the assistant can read from the videos list.

There is no legitimate way to read a hidden list from outside. Any tool that claims it can is either guessing or asking for a TikTok login, which you should not give.

How long a list can you read?

Pages are read one at a time, and each page costs 1 request. For an account that follows a few hundred people, the whole list is a handful of requests. For a creator with hundreds of thousands of followers, reading every follower would take thousands of requests, and the first pages are what you usually want anyway. Tell the assistant how many pages to read; otherwise it decides, and may read more than you need.

If you need large lists in a file, the TikTok followers export page or the TikTok API is a better fit than a chat.

Instagram works the same way

The same connection reads Instagram followers and following, a page of up to 25 accounts per request. Instagram shows only about 50 followers of a verified account. For a manual approach on Instagram, see how to see who someone recently followed on Instagram.

Use it fairly

Following lists are public by the account owner's choice, but they are still about people. Use them for research on creators, brands and niches. Don't use them to keep tabs on a private person.

FAQ

Can I see who a TikTok account follows if the list is hidden?

No. A hidden list can't be read from outside. StoriesFly returns it as hidden, and the request is charged. You can still look at the account's followers (if shown), reposts and video captions.

Can ChatGPT show me someone's TikTok following list?

Not on its own. With an MCP connector such as StoriesFly it reads the following list of any public account that shows it, page by page.

Does the following list show the newest follows first?

Usually, yes. The first page is the place to look for recent follows. To be sure about changes, save a copy and compare it with a later read.

How much does reading a TikTok following list cost?

1 request per page. A short list is a few requests; a creator with a huge list takes many, so tell the assistant how many pages to read.

Do I need a TikTok account to read these lists?

No. You sign in to StoriesFly with Telegram. You never log in to TikTok with your own account, and your account never appears among a story's viewers.

Can I read followers of a private TikTok account?

No. Private accounts show their lists only to approved followers.
