01Quality

720p for clips and short videos, 480p for long ones

VK offers each video in qualities from 144p to 1080p, as MP4 with sound. The page takes up to 720p for a clip or a video up to 3 minutes long, and up to 480p for a longer one, so that the file stays a size you can handle.

The 15-second clip we measured on 26 October 2026 came back at 480p and weighed 1.9 MB.

Clips and videos up to 3 minutes: ≤ 720p
Videos longer than 3 minutes: ≤ 480p

02Why the stream

VK's file link will not open from your address

The file is fetched and passed on in one go, which is also why nothing is stored on our side beforehand.

This page

Our server asked VK for the file, so VK's link opens for it. It streams the file to you on a link signed for one hour.

03Paste to file

What happens between the paste and the file

Four steps, and the middle two run on our server.

01The field checks the linkIt has to be a vk.com/video or vk.com/clip link, a vkvideo.ru link, a mobile m.vk.com link or a link with ?z=video in it. A page address such as vk.com/durov is turned away; for stories use the VK story viewer.
02Our server reads the player dataIt reads VK's own player data for the video, with no VK account. Only public videos and clips can be read.
03The quality is pickedUp to 720p for a clip or a video up to 3 minutes, up to 480p for longer ones. You get a button with a signed link.
04The file streams to your browserThe button opens a link that lasts one hour. The file goes from VK through our server to you.

04Videos and clips

Both kinds of link go in the same field

A VK video and a VK clip are different things on VK, but one field takes both: vk.com/video and vk.com/clip addresses, vkvideo.ru links, m.vk.com links and links with ?z=video.

Only public videos and clips work. For anything else the page says there is nothing to download.

The Telegram bot takes the same links: send it the address and the file arrives in the chat.

05What the field takes

Links it takes, input it refuses, files it returns

The field only checks the shape of the address. Whether the video is public is up to VK.

06Known gaps

What the VK downloader cannot hand you

Most of these come from VK, not from a setting we could change.

01Private or deleted videosOnly public videos and clips can be read. For anything else the page says there is nothing to download.
021080pVK offers up to 1080p, but the page takes up to 720p for clips and videos up to 3 minutes and up to 480p for longer ones.
03A link that stops workingThe button's link lasts one hour. After that, paste the VK link again for a fresh one.
04Page linksThe field wants a video or clip link. A page address such as vk.com/durov is refused here; the stories of a page are in the VK story viewer.

Do I need a VK account?

No. The page reads VK's own player data for a public video or clip and has no field for an account.

What quality will I get?

VK offers 144p to 1080p. The page gives up to 720p for clips and videos up to 3 minutes and up to 480p for longer ones. A 15-second clip we measured came back at 480p, 1.9 MB.

Why does the file go through your server?

VK's file links open only from the IP address that asked for them. A link handed to your browser would not open, so the web page streams the file through our server on a signed link that works for one hour.

Which links work?

vk.com/video and vk.com/clip links, vkvideo.ru links, m.vk.com links and links with ?z=video, for public videos and clips.

Does it work for clips as well as videos?

Yes. Both go in the same field.

Is it free? Can I use it in Telegram?

It is free and needs no sign-up. The Telegram bot does the same: send it the link and the file arrives in the chat.
