what happens, top to bottomthe file through our server: never

Why nothing goes through usThe file link Pinterest hands out is not tied to an address, so any IP may open it. That leaves our server only the small job of reading the pin. We relay no video and keep no copy.

01Paste to file

What happens between the paste and the file

Four steps. Only the second one runs on our server.

01The field checks the linkIt has to be a pin address, pinterest.com/pin/ followed by the pin number, or a pin.it short link. A profile, a board or a bare number is turned away before anything is sent.
02Our server reads the pinIt asks Pinterest's own pin endpoint for the pin, signed out. A short link is opened first to find the pin behind it.
03The files come back as buttonsOne button for the pin's video. An idea pin with several videos gets a button for each one. A photo pin gets its original image.
04Your browser fetches the fileThe button opens Pinterest's own file link, on v1.pinimg.com. The bytes go from there to you.

02What the field takes

Links it takes, input it refuses, files it returns

The field only checks the shape of the address. Whether the pin has a video is up to the pin.

03Quality

The best file Pinterest stores for the pin

The page hands over the best video Pinterest lists for the pin and nothing else: it does not re-encode, resize or upscale. On the pin we measured on 26 October 2026 the top file was V_720P, 720×1280, and a 32-second clip came to 5.3 MB.

That is one pin, so treat 720p as the ceiling we saw, not a promise for every pin.

An idea pin can hold several videos. The page lists each of them, one button per video. A pin with no video at all, a photo pin, returns the original image instead, so a photo link is not a dead end.

04Where the file comes from

The file leaves Pinterest and arrives at your browser

Our server's part ends once it has read the pin and passed the file link on.

What a pin gives you

These are the answers for the pin we measured and for the page's own rules. Nothing on our side changes the file between Pinterest and your browser.

A short pin.it link works the same way: the page opens it, finds the pin and continues from there.

06Known gaps

What the Pinterest downloader cannot hand you

Most of these come from Pinterest, not from a setting we could change.

01Deleted or private pinsIf Pinterest has nothing to show signed out, the page says there is nothing to download: the pin is deleted or private, or it has no video.
02Quality above what Pinterest storesThe page takes the best file Pinterest lists. On the pin we measured that was 720p, 720×1280. Nothing is upscaled.
03A photo where you expected a videoA pin with no video returns its original image. That is by design.
04Pinterest not answeringWhen Pinterest does not respond, the page tells you to try again in a minute.

Do I need a Pinterest account?

No. The page reads the pin signed out and has no field for an account. It works for public pins.

What quality will I get?

The best file Pinterest stores for the pin, up to 720p. On the pin we measured it was 720×1280, and a 32-second clip was 5.3 MB.

Does the video pass through your server?

No. The file link is Pinterest's own v1.pinimg.com address, which any IP may open, so your browser downloads straight from Pinterest. Our server only reads the pin.

Do pin.it short links work?

Yes. Paste the short link as it is; the page opens it to find the pin.

What about idea pins and photo pins?

An idea pin with several videos gives you each video. A photo pin gives you its original image.

Is it free? Can I use it in Telegram?

It is free and needs no sign-up. The Telegram bot does the same: send it the pin link and the file arrives in the chat.
