Three tiers, told apart by post count
Each tier is defined in the request by how many posts its tags should carry. The model estimates those counts; nothing in the tool looks them up on Instagram.
Pasting all thirty against copying five
Until December 2025 a caption could carry thirty hashtags. Instagram now allows five on a post or Reel, so the thirty stay on screen as a list and the copy button takes five.

Five per post or Reel, since December 2025
On 18 December 2025 Instagram's @creators account announced that Instagram will allow up to five hashtags in a post or Reel. Before that a caption could carry thirty. The number that matters on a post is now five.
A tag ends at the first space. #strength training is one tag plus a stray word, so a set that looks like five tags may not be five. The model is asked to write each tag with the # in place, and the tool does not re-check what comes back, so read the set once before you paste it.
On the 17 non-English versions of this page that have a language on file (every locale except Bengali and Persian), the request tells the model to keep the tags in English and write only the strategy note in the page's language. On the English, Bengali and Persian pages the request does not name a language for the tags, so a topic written in another language can come back with tags in that language. A hashtag is a search string, and a translated tag is a different hashtag with its own page, so check the set before you paste it. On the Bengali and Persian pages the request does not name a language for the strategy note either.

Topic in, three tiers and a set of five out
The model gets the topic, the tier sizes and, on 17 of the 20 language versions, the page language. It does not query your account or read Instagram's tag pages.

What the hashtag list cannot promise
Where a generated list stops being reliable.
- 01Tier sizes are requested, not verifiedThe model is asked for tags with 500K posts or more, 50K to 500K, and under 50K; it does not query Instagram for any tag's live post count. A tag can sit one tier away from where it belongs.
- 02It cannot see restricted tagsThe tool has no list of restricted hashtags and does not query Instagram for any tag. Instagram can limit individual tags, so a generated set can include one that is currently restricted. Search each tag on Instagram before you rely on it.
- 03The strategy note is not told about the capThe request asks the model how to mix the three tiers and does not mention Instagram's five-tag limit, so the note can suggest more tags than a post takes. The set of five follows the cap even when the note does not.
- 04The set of five is an order, not a rankingIt takes the first tags of each tier in the order the model wrote them. Nothing measures which five would reach more people, so treat it as a starting point.

How many hashtags can you use on Instagram now?

Why does the generator still ask for thirty?
Because one run still asks the model for ten tags per tier. Only five fit on a post, so the rest work as spares: the three tiers stay on screen as replacements, and the set of five is taken from them.
Which five does the copy button take?
The first broad tag, the first two mid-sized and the first two niche, in the order the model wrote them. That order is not a ranking, so swap any tag that does not fit before posting.
What language do the tags come back in?
It depends on the page language. On the English, Bengali and Persian pages the request does not name a language for the tags, so a topic in another language can return tags in that language. On the other 17 language versions the request tells the model to keep the tags in English, and the strategy note follows the page. A translated tag is a different hashtag with its own page, so read the set before you paste it.
Can the strategy note be wrong about how many tags to use?
Yes. The note is written from the topic and the tiers alone, and the request does not mention Instagram's five-tag limit, so if it suggests more than five, the limit still applies.
Do you store my topics?
No. The topic is sent to the model with the request and is not saved on our side. There is no history panel, so copy the set before you run the next topic.
