TikTok username checker: see whether a handle is taken before you sign up.
StoriesFly's TikTok username checker takes a handle of 2 to 24 characters and looks for a public profile at that name, first on TikTok's own profile page and then on three mirror sites, so a profile found reads as taken, with its owner's card, and no profile reads as available, which TikTok can still refuse at signup. No TikTok login is needed, and a check reserves nothing.
No login. A check reserves nothing: the name goes to whoever registers it first on TikTok.

The 25th characterEach bar is the length of a demo handle in this page's code. The third is exactly 24 characters, the most TikTok allows. The fourth is 25, and the field would not take it: typing stops at 24 characters, the @ counted, so a name that long never reaches a lookup.
From the name you type to the answer
Nothing is registered, held or sent to the account that owns the name.
- 01The field tidies the nameA leading @ is dropped and capitals become lowercase. Typing stops at 24 characters, a leading @ included, so paste a 24-character handle without it.
- 02The rules run in the pageFewer than 2 characters, a character outside a–z, 0–9, underscore and period, a period at either end, or two periods in a row: the page shows the rules and sends nothing.
- 03One lookup reaches the serverIf a profile under that name was found in the last 60 minutes, that stored copy answers. Otherwise the server asks TikTok's own profile page, then urlebird, tikstoriesviewer and countik, and stops at the first that returns a profile. A source that failed more than 5 of its last 10 calls is tried last for 10 minutes.
- 04The answer comes backA profile means taken: its picture, name, verified tick, bio, follower count and like count are shown, with up to 8 spelling variations. No profile from any source means the name looks available.
TikTok's rules, and two the page adds
TikTok's help page sets the length, the characters and the final period. The field adds two rules that page does not list.
TikTok's help page on changing a username allows 2 to 24 characters made of letters, numbers, underscores and periods, with no period at the end. The same page allows one username change every 30 days.
The field also refuses a period at the start and two periods in a row. TikTok's page lists neither rule, so a handle shaped like that might be accepted by TikTok even though this page will not look it up.
- The @ is dropped
- @mika → mika
- Capitals become lowercase
- Mika.Bakes → mika.bakes
- A space: refused
- mika bakes
- A period at the end: refused, TikTok's rule
- mika.
- A period at the start: refused, this page's rule
- .mika
- Two periods in a row: refused, this page's rule
- mika..bakes
TikTok's own username field has the last word
The username field in TikTok's signup and Edit profile screens is the authority. It knows about names TikTok keeps unavailable without a public page, for example a username you gave up, which TikTok says cannot be added to an account for a short period. This checker cannot see those.
What the checker adds is a look without a TikTok account, and the holder's card when a name is taken: picture, bio, followers and likes.
Only TikTok can refuse a name for a reason no public page shows.
No TikTok account needed, and a taken answer shows who holds the name.
Available means no public profile answered
Available here means the server got no profile back from any of its four sources. It answers 404 in that case, and the page shows that as looks available. TikTok has not confirmed the name is free.
Three different situations produce that same 404: nobody holds the name; the name is held but no source shows a page for it, for example a username that was just given up; or every source failed at the same moment and no earlier copy was stored. From outside, the three cannot be told apart.
Taken is firmer, because a profile actually came back, private accounts included. It can be up to 60 minutes old, since a found profile is reused for that long, and up to 24 hours old when every source fails and an older copy exists. A mirror site may also still show an account that has since changed its name.

What one check runs on
The spelling variations come from eight fixed patterns: _official, .tv, the., real_, the year's last two digits, _hq, iam. and _daily. Any variation longer than 24 characters is dropped, so a 16-character name gets 7 and a 23-character name gets none.
None of them is looked up. Type one into the field to check it like any other name.

What a public lookup cannot tell you
Every limit below comes from reading public pages instead of asking TikTok's own username field.
- 01A name it calls available can still be refusedNames TikTok keeps unavailable without a public page read as available here. TikTok says a username you give up cannot be added to an account for a short period, and its signup can refuse other names this page cannot see.
- 02A failed lookup looks like a free nameIf all four sources fail and no copy is stored, the server answers 404, the same answer a name nobody holds gets.
- 03Taken can be an hour oldA found profile is reused for 60 minutes, and a copy up to 24 hours old is served when every source fails, so a name released in the meantime still reads as taken.
- 04Nothing is reservedA check holds nothing for you. The name goes to whoever registers it first, and the button on an available answer only opens tiktok.com/signup.
- 05One handle per pressThere is no list upload and the field takes no links: one handle goes in, and the spelling variations it suggests are not looked up.
TikTok username questions
How long can a TikTok username be?
24 characters at most and 2 at least. TikTok's help page allows letters, numbers, underscores and periods, with no period at the end, and the field here stops taking input at 24 characters, a leading @ included.
If the checker says available, can I register it?
Not for certain. Available means no public profile answered at that name. TikTok can still refuse it, for example if it was given up a short while ago, and someone else can register it before you do.
Does checking a username tell the owner?
No. The lookup reads public profile pages without a TikTok login, so there is no account a view could be shown to.
How often can I change my TikTok username?
Once every 30 days, according to TikTok's help page. TikTok also says a username you give up cannot be added to an account for a short period afterwards.
Can I paste a tiktok.com link?
No. The field takes a handle, with or without the @. A link contains slashes, fails the character check, and nothing is looked up.
Are the suggested variations available?
Unknown until you check them. They are built from fixed patterns such as _official and .tv and are not looked up; type one into the field to check it.
Is the TikTok username checker free?
Yes. There is no login and no daily count on this check, and each press runs one lookup.
