How do you download a video from Facebook?
Copy the link to the video or reel, paste it into the Facebook video downloader and save the MP4. No Facebook account, login or app is needed. It works only for public videos: anything posted for friends, inside a private group, or already deleted can't be downloaded by anyone outside that audience.
Facebook's own Save button doesn't give you a file. It adds the video to your Saved list inside Facebook, and if the author deletes the video or changes who can see it, it disappears from there too. A downloaded MP4 stays on your device.
How to get the link to a Facebook video or reel
- In the app: open the video or reel, tap Share and choose Copy link.
- In a browser: open the video so it plays on its own page and copy the address from the address bar. Or click the three dots on the post and look for Copy link.
Links that work look like this:
facebook.com/watch?v=...facebook.com/reel/...facebook.com/<page name>/videos/...fb.watch/...
Sometimes the app copies a link like facebook.com/share/.... If the downloader doesn't accept it, open that link in your browser: it redirects to the video's full address, and that's the one to paste. A link to a page or profile won't work, the downloader needs the specific video.
How to download a Facebook video on iPhone
- In the Facebook app, tap Share under the video and choose Copy link.
- Open Safari and go to the Facebook video downloader.
- Paste the link and press the button.
- Tap download and confirm when Safari asks.
- The video goes to the Files app, Downloads folder. Open it, tap the share icon and choose Save Video to move it into Photos.
If the video opens in a player instead, tap the share icon in the player and choose Save Video. The Telegram bot (below) is often the fastest route on iPhone: the video lands in the chat and saves to Photos in one tap.
How to download a Facebook video on Android
- Copy the link through Share, then Copy link.
- Open Chrome, go to the downloader page, paste the link and press the button.
- Tap download. The file goes to the Download folder in internal storage.
- Your gallery usually shows it on its own. In Google Photos it's under Library, in the Download folder.
On Samsung phones you can also find it in My Files, then Downloads.
How to download a Facebook video on a computer
- Open the video on facebook.com and copy the address from the address bar.
- Paste it on the downloader page and press the button.
- Click download, and the MP4 goes to your Downloads folder.
If the browser plays the video in a new tab instead of saving it, right-click it and choose Save video as.
How to download Facebook videos through Telegram
Send the video link to @instanavy_bot and it replies with the file. It arrives as a normal Telegram video, so you can forward it or save it to your gallery from the video's menu.
- No daily limit for these links. More than about 20 links in 10 minutes and the bot asks you to wait a few minutes.
- Telegram doesn't let bots send files over 50 MB. Long Facebook videos often go over that: the bot tells you, and you download that one from the website instead.
Phone, computer or bot
| Website on phone | Website on PC | Telegram bot | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Where the file ends up | Files / Downloads, then Photos or Gallery | Downloads folder | The chat, then gallery in one tap |
| File size | Any | Any | Up to 50 MB |
| Good for | Reels and short clips | Long videos | Reels on iPhone |
Why won't the Facebook video download?
- The post is for friends only. Facebook shows it only to the author's friends. A visitor without an account can't see it, so neither can the downloader. Ask the author to send you the file.
- The video is in a private group. Only members see it. The same answer: nothing outside the group can reach it.
- The video was deleted or the author changed who can see it. If it's gone from Facebook, it can't be downloaded. If the same clip was posted by a public page, try that link.
- It's a live stream that's still going. A broadcast in progress isn't a finished file. Try again after it ends, if the author keeps the recording on the page.
- Facebook asks you to log in to watch it. Some videos, for example age-restricted ones, open only for signed-in users. These can't be downloaded.
- The link is to a page, profile or feed. Open the video itself and copy its own link.
- The bot replied that the file is too big. It's over Telegram's 50 MB limit. Download it from the website.
A quick check: open the link in a private browser window where you're not logged in to Facebook. If the video doesn't play there, it isn't public, and the downloader won't get it either.
Is it OK to download someone else's Facebook video?
Keeping a video for yourself is fine. If you want to repost it somewhere, ask the author and credit them. Posting someone else's video as your own can get it removed over copyright.
Does the author know I downloaded their video?
No. The downloader opens the public video the same way a logged-out visitor does. Your Facebook account isn't involved, so there's no notification and nothing tied to your name.
The same copy-link-and-paste approach works for Instagram, X (Twitter) and TikTok.
FAQ
Can I download a Facebook video without an account?
Yes, if the video is public. Copy the video or reel link, paste it into the Facebook video downloader and save the MP4. You don't need to log in to Facebook. Videos for friends only, in private groups or behind a login prompt can't be downloaded this way.
How do I download a Facebook reel?
In the app, tap Share on the reel and choose Copy link. Paste the link, which looks like facebook.com/reel/..., into the Facebook video downloader and save the MP4. In Telegram, send the same link to @instanavy_bot and it replies with the video.
Where does a downloaded Facebook video go on iPhone?
Into the Files app, in the Downloads folder. Open it, tap the share icon and choose Save Video to add it to Photos. If you use the Telegram bot, the video arrives in the chat and you save it to Photos from the video's menu.
Why does Facebook say the video isn't available?
Usually the video isn't public: it's shared with friends only, posted in a private group, deleted, or restricted to signed-in users. Open the link in a private browser window without logging in. If it doesn't play there, it can't be downloaded.
Why didn't the Telegram bot send my Facebook video?
Telegram doesn't let bots send files larger than 50 MB, and long Facebook videos often exceed that. The bot tells you when this happens. Open the website, paste the same link there and download the file directly.
Is Facebook's Save button the same as downloading?
No. Save only adds the video to your Saved list inside Facebook. You don't get a file, and if the author deletes the video or limits who can see it, it's gone from your list too.
