How it works

Three steps. Zero learning curve.

1

Pick a tab

Toggle between Hashtags and Sounds. Each is independently ranked by recent usage frequency.

2

Read the velocity

Items marked with the green up-arrow are 'rising' (>2x baseline). Items at 1x are stable; below 1x are cooling off.

3

Subscribe to alerts (PRO)

Click 'Alert' on any item, set a growth threshold, save. We'll push you a notification when that trend spikes.

Methodology

How we approximate TikTok's missing trending API

Curated bellwethers + hourly sampling + velocity ranking + tier-aware caps.

Curated bellwether accounts

Roughly 300 well-known public TikTok creators across 10 niches (fitness, food, tech, beauty, comedy, dance, education, gaming, travel, fashion) plus a few mainstream cross-niche additions. They were chosen for early adoption of trends within their niche.

Hourly bellwether sweep

Cron runs every 60 minutes. For each bellwether we fetch their latest 5 videos via tikTokManager, then aggregate hashtags + sounds across all videos posted in the last 24h.

Velocity scoring

Velocity = (mentions in the last hour) / (average mentions per hour over the prior 6 hours). >2x marks a 'rising' trend. Stable trends sit around 1x. Cooling trends drop below 1x.

Top-50 ranking

Both hashtags and sounds are ranked by 24h occurrence count, with velocity as a tie-breaker. We persist only the top 50 of each to Redis (key tt:trends, 6h TTL fallback).

PRO trend alerts

PRO users can subscribe to any hashtag or sound and set a growth threshold (default 50% in 24h). When the next sweep crosses the threshold, we send a push + Telegram notification.

Tier-aware caps

FREE → top 3 of each. BASIC → top 25. PRO → top 50 + alerts. The same ranking applies across tiers; lower tiers see fewer rows.

Who uses TikTok trends

From solo creators to brand marketing teams.

Solo creators jumping on trends early

Refresh the page once a day, scan the top 10 hashtags + sounds for ones that fit your niche, and post within 24 hours. Trends in our top 10 typically peak 24-72 hours later — early posters get the algorithmic boost.

PRO creators with push alerts

Subscribe to ~10 niche-relevant hashtags + sounds with 50% growth threshold. We notify you when one spikes. You get 12-24 hours of lead time before mass-adoption — which is when the algorithm rewards posters most.

Brand teams briefing creator partners

Use the live top-10 to brief your sponsored creators on which sounds + tags to incorporate this week. Sponsored content using trending tags performs 2-3x better in reach than evergreen tags.

Marketing analysts tracking culture cycles

Pull the top-50 weekly, log the data, and spot which trends persist vs flame out. Stable top-10 trends after 5+ days are 'mature' and safe; rising new entries to top-30 are speculative bets.

Music labels tracking sound adoption

Check the Sounds tab daily. New entries from your label's catalog rising past 2x velocity are the ones to push. Many label deals now include 'TikTok signal report' clauses; this page covers them in seconds.

Researchers studying virality dynamics

Free public ranking + transparent methodology. Use the page as a longitudinal source for academic / industry study on trend lifecycles. Velocity formula is documented; bellwether list is public.

The complete guide to TikTok trends in 2026

Why TikTok trends move so fast (and why it matters)

TikTok's For You algorithm rewards velocity. A video using a sound that's growing 3x week-over-week gets a meaningfully larger initial test audience than a video using a stable or declining sound. The platform actively promotes content tied to rising trends because that content is, by definition, what users are responding to right now.

For creators, this creates a 12-48 hour window of opportunity every time a trend emerges. Post inside the window — your video gets distribution. Post outside it — even great content competes against thousands of other late-adopters and algorithmic preference shifts to the next trend. This page exists to surface that window in time for you to actually use it.

How to read velocity (and why the score matters more than rank)

Velocity 0.0x - 0.5x: Cooling. The trend is declining; new posts late in this cycle have diminishing returns. Skip.

Velocity 0.5x - 1.5x: Stable. The trend has plateaued at a base level. Still usable, but no algorithmic boost from being early. Good for evergreen-style usage.

Velocity 1.5x - 2.5x: Warming. Trend is accelerating but not yet viral. Posting now positions you in the wave before it crests; one of the highest-ROI windows.

Velocity 2.5x+: Rising. Marked as such on the page (green up-arrow). Trend is going viral right now. Post in the next 12 hours; many top creators will jump in within 24 hours and the cycle peaks in 48-72 hours.

Velocity 5x+: Spike. Either a brand-new breakout (rare and valuable) or a re-emergence of a previously-dormant trend. Either way, this is the highest- urgency category — post within hours, not days.

Hashtag trends vs sound trends — different lifecycles

Hashtag trends spread fast and fade fast. A hashtag entering the top-50 typically peaks within 2-4 days and disappears from the top-50 within a week. They're great for jumping on a meme or news moment but have very little durable value past that window.

Sound trends are slower to peak (often a full week from first appearance to top-10) but persist far longer. A sound that hits the top-10 typically stays in the top-50 for 2-3 weeks. For evergreen content creators, sounds are a more durable signal than hashtags.

Best practice: scan hashtags daily for jump-on opportunities; scan sounds weekly for content-strategy adjustments. Pair the two — a video using a top-10 sound with a top-10 hashtag has compound algorithmic advantages.

How PRO trend alerts change the game

The hardest part of trend-jumping is timing. Refreshing this page hourly is impractical. PRO trend alerts solve this by pushing you a notification (web push + Telegram) the moment a hashtag or sound you've subscribed to crosses your configured velocity threshold.

Recommended setup: subscribe to 10-15 hashtags / sounds in your niche with a 50% growth threshold. You'll get roughly 1-3 alerts per week on average. Each alert gives you the lead time to capture the trend before mass-adoption dilutes the algorithmic boost.

Premium creators report a 2-4x increase in average video reach from systematic trend-jumping enabled by alert subscriptions. The ROI is highest for creators in the 50K-500K follower range — large enough that trend-aligned posts get FYP distribution boosts, small enough that algorithm uplift can meaningfully grow the audience.

Limitations to be honest about

Curated bellwethers, not full creator-base sampling. Our 300 bellwethers are a representative sample, not the entire TikTok creator universe. Trends that originate primarily in non-English-speaking creator communities or in obscure sub-niches may surface here later than they emerge there. We're working on regional bellwether sets for v2.

Velocity formula favors fresh emergence over mature trends. A trend that's been at 5x for 3 days will eventually be ranked below a brand-new 2x trend because the formula only looks at the last hour vs prior 6h. If you want to study mature trends, look at count (24h occurrences) rather than velocity rank.

Sound metadata is best-effort. TikTok providers don't always expose canonical sound IDs; we fall back to audio URL hashes when needed, which means the same sound might appear twice in some edge cases. Working on a deduplication pass for v2.

Cron miss = stale data. The page shows the timestamp of the last successful sweep. If the cron failed, the page degrades gracefully (shows the last good data + a warning) but you may be looking at trends that are already an hour or two stale. Refresh manually if you suspect freshness issues.

Limitations

What our trends tool does not do

Honest about the constraints of bellwether sampling.

Not the official TikTok trending list

TikTok doesn't publish one. Our list is computed from sampling ~300 bellwether creators every hour. It approximates official trending closely for English-speaking global audiences.

Bellwether bias

Trends emerging in creator communities outside our 300 bellwethers will appear here later than they actually started. Sub-niche or non-English trends may underperform in our ranking vs reality.

FREE caps at 3 results

Enough to see the very top of the cycle, not enough for serious content planning. BASIC unlocks 25 of each; PRO unlocks 50 + alerts.

Velocity is point-in-time

Recomputed each hour. A trend cooling between sweeps will not be reflected until the next sweep runs. For real-time decisions worth more than $1K, do manual verification on TikTok.

No regional breakdown

v1 is a single global ranking. v2 will add regional sub-rankings for US/EU/APAC. Currently the bellwether list skews English-speaking global creators.

No future prediction

We surface what's trending right now. We don't predict which trends will explode tomorrow. The closest proxy: rising trends with velocity 2.5x+ have ~40% chance of staying in the top-20 for the next 48h.

Cron miss tolerance

If our hourly cron fails, the page degrades to the last good snapshot (up to 6h old). Beyond 6h, the cache expires and the page shows 'warming up'. We monitor this; rare in production.

Frequently asked questions

Where do TikTok trends data come from?+

TikTok has no public trending API, so we approximate it. Every hour our backend samples the latest 5 videos from ~300 curated 'bellwether' creators across all major niches (fitness, food, tech, beauty, comedy, dance, education, gaming, travel, fashion). We aggregate hashtag + sound usage across the past 24 hours, compute a velocity score (this hour vs prior 6h average), and rank the top 50 of each.

How fresh is the data?+

Updated hourly via cron. The page-level timestamp ('Updated X min ago') reflects the last bellwether sweep. Page also auto-refreshes every 5 minutes to pick up new sweeps.

What does 'velocity' mean?+

Velocity = (mentions in the last hour) / (average mentions per hour over the prior 6 hours). A velocity of 1.0x means the hashtag is at its baseline; 2.0x means it's appearing twice as often as recently; 5x+ usually means a viral spike. We flag anything 2x+ as 'rising'.

Why do FREE users only see 3 trends?+

The free tier shows the top 3 hashtags + top 3 sounds — enough to spot the very top of the cycle. BASIC unlocks 25 of each. PRO unlocks the full 50 + the ability to subscribe to per-trend alerts (push + Telegram notification when a trend you follow spikes).

How do PRO trend alerts work?+

PRO users can click 'Alert' on any hashtag or sound. Set a threshold (default 50% growth in 24h). When that trend's usage grows by your threshold percentage in our hourly sweep, we send you a push notification and Telegram message. You can keep up to 25 active alerts.

Why are some trends unfamiliar to me?+

Trends emerge in different niches at different times. Comedy and dance trends spread fastest globally; tech and education trends spread slower but stick longer. The top-50 list is global across all our niches — your personal For You feed is heavily algorithmic and won't match this list.

Can I trust these trends for my own content strategy?+

Treat them as early-signal indicators, not certainties. A hashtag in the top 10 with 3x velocity is worth experimenting with within the next 24 hours. A hashtag at #50 with stable velocity is past its peak. For sound trends, use our 'Expand' button to feed the trend into our hashtag generator and produce a related set for your video.

What's the difference between hashtag and sound trends?+

Hashtag trends spread fast and fade fast — typical lifecycle is 2-4 days. Sound trends are slower to peak (a week) but persist longer (2-3 weeks if they reach top-10). For original content discovery, sound trends are more durable; for jumping on a meme, hashtag trends are better.

Why are bellwether accounts curated instead of automatic?+

TikTok's API doesn't expose a 'top creators globally' endpoint either. Curating ~300 bellwethers manually across niches gives reliable signal: these are creators known for early adoption of trends in their niche, so their hashtag/sound usage tends to lead broader spread by 12-48 hours.

Do I need an account to see trends?+

No. Anonymous visitors see the top 3 of each. Sign in (free account) to keep the same view but save your alert preferences when you upgrade. PRO is required for the alert subscription feature itself.
