## How do you save Instagram stories and reels to Telegram?

Use a Telegram bot that sends the file into your chat. With [@instanavy_bot](https://t.me/instanavy_bot?start=web_blog), you paste a reel or post link into the chat and the bot sends the video or photo back, or you send a public account's username and get its newest story, with a button that opens the rest. The file arrives as an ordinary message in your chat with the bot, where you can keep it, forward it or save it to your phone. You never log in to Instagram, and it works only with public accounts.

The chat handles single files: a reel, a post, the newest story. For every current story or a highlight, the bot's buttons open its app inside Telegram, where a Send button delivers the rest to the same chat.

## Before you start

- **Any Telegram app works.** The steps below are written for Telegram on a phone, and they work the same in Telegram on a computer and in Telegram Web in a browser.
- **Find the right bot.** In Telegram search the bot is listed as "StoryViewer - anonymous instagram story viewer tool". Check that the username is @instanavy_bot.
- **You need no Instagram account.** StoriesFly never asks for an Instagram login. Inside Telegram you are signed in with your Telegram account automatically, with no form, email or password.
- **The account must be public.** Stories, reels and posts from private accounts are not available.

## Stories and highlights: send the username, then tap Send

1. Open [@instanavy_bot](https://t.me/instanavy_bot?start=web_blog) and press **Start**.
2. Send the account's username, for example `@natgeo`, or paste its instagram.com profile link.
3. The bot replies with the profile's newest story, right in the chat, and buttons under it: **All N stories**, **Track @username** and **Highlights**. If that newest story is all you wanted, you are done.
4. For the others, tap **All N stories**: the profile's current stories open inside Telegram. Open a story and tap **Send**, or use the small send icon on its tile. To get every current story at once, tap **Send to Telegram (N)**, where N is the number of stories.
5. Close the app window. The files are waiting in your chat with the bot.

Highlights work the same way. They sit on the same profile page: open one and tap **Send** on the item you want. If you only want to look through someone's highlights without saving anything, the [highlights viewer](/instagram-highlights-viewer) on the website does that.

## Reels and posts: paste the link into the chat

1. In Instagram, open the reel or post, tap the share icon and choose **Copy link**.
2. Open @instanavy_bot and paste the link as a normal message.
3. The bot sends the video or photo back into the chat. For a carousel it sends the photos and videos one after another, up to 10. Under the file are buttons to the author's profile and to the tracker.

Files you get this way do not count against the free plan's daily downloads. The bot only slows you down if you send a lot of links in a short burst.

The app has the same downloader as the [Download page](/download) on the website: tap **Open App**, choose **Download**, then **Reel Downloader** or **Post Downloader**, paste the link and tap **Send**. Inside Telegram, Download turns into Send, and the file goes to your chat instead of your phone's downloads folder.

## Where the files end up, and why that is handy

Everything you send lands in your chat with the bot as normal Telegram messages: videos arrive as videos and photos as photos. A few useful things follow from that.

- **They are on all your devices.** Regular Telegram chats are stored in Telegram's cloud, so a reel you saved on your phone also shows up in Telegram on your laptop or tablet.
- **Your gallery stays clean.** Nothing goes to your camera roll unless you put it there. You can clear Telegram's cache to free up space on the phone, and the files stay in the chat and load again when you open them.
- **They outlast the story.** An Instagram story disappears after 24 hours unless the owner adds it to a highlight. The copy in your chat stays until you delete it.
- **They are easy to sort and pass on.** Forward a file to Saved Messages to keep it next to your own notes, or send it straight to a friend or a group. The chat's shared media tab shows everything you have saved in one grid.

If you want to show a friend someone's stories rather than a single file, type @instanavy_bot followed by a username in any chat to share a link to that profile's stories. If nothing appears after you type, open the bot and send the username there instead.

## Limits worth knowing

| Limit | What it means for you |
|---|---|
| Public accounts only | Stories, reels and posts from private accounts can't be saved. |
| Videos over 50 MB | They are not sent to the chat. Long reels can go over that size. |
| Photos | They arrive as Telegram photos, which Telegram compresses. Photos over 10 MB arrive as a file instead. |
| Free plan | In the chat: reel and post links without a daily limit, and 50 newest-story previews a day. In the app: 50 downloads, 10 story views and 5 highlight views a day. No payment details needed. |

Inviting friends lifts the limits for a while. When a new user you invited watches their first story, you both get 7 days of unlimited story views and downloads, up to 30 bonus days a month. The [referral page](/referral) explains how it works.

If you save things every day, the Basic plan (from $4.99/month) removes the daily limits on story views and downloads. You can pay without leaving Telegram, with Telegram Stars or a Visa or Mastercard card.

## Moving a video from Telegram to your phone's gallery

The chat is a fine place to keep files, but sometimes you need a video in your camera roll, for example to edit it or post it elsewhere.

**On iPhone:**

1. Open the chat with the bot and tap the video to open it full screen.
2. Tap the share button or the **⋯** menu.
3. Choose the option that saves it to Photos. The video appears in the Photos app.

**On Android:**

1. Open the chat with the bot and tap the video to open it full screen.
2. Tap the three dots in the top right corner.
3. Choose **Save to Gallery**. The video then appears in your gallery app.

Telegram can also save incoming media to your gallery automatically. The setting is under Settings, then Data and Storage. It works by chat type rather than by chat, so it can also pick up photos and videos from your other conversations.

## If you don't use Telegram

StoriesFly is the same app on the website as inside Telegram, so the story viewer and the downloader also work in a browser. There, files download straight to your device instead of going to a chat. The [Instagram downloader](/instagram-downloader) handles stories, posts and reels, and the [reels download page](/instagram-reels-download) is set up for reels. You can use the website without an account, with a lower hourly limit per IP address.

If a video is too large to arrive in Telegram, try downloading it on the website instead. For browser steps on each device and notes on video quality, see [how to download Instagram reels in HD](/blog/download-instagram-reels-hd) and [how to download Instagram stories](/blog/how-to-download-instagram-stories-2026).

## FAQ

### Is there a Telegram bot that downloads Instagram reels?

Yes. Paste a reel or post link into the chat with [@instanavy_bot](https://t.me/instanavy_bot?start=web_blog) and it sends the video or photo back. It also sends stories and highlights from public accounts: send a username, and the newest story arrives in the chat with a button to the rest.

### Does the account owner know I saved their story?

StoriesFly never uses your Instagram account, so your name cannot appear in the story's viewer list. It also does not mark stories as seen.

### Why didn't a long video arrive in the chat?

Videos over 50 MB are not sent to Telegram, and long reels can go over that size. Try the downloader on the website, which saves the file to your device instead of sending it to the chat.

### Can I save stories from a private account?

No. StoriesFly works with public accounts only. The paid Private Viewer sends a follow request from a StoriesFly account and works only if the owner accepts it. You can also ask for a free Telegram message if the account goes public: StoriesFly checks it about once a week for up to six months.

### Is saving Instagram videos to Telegram free?

Reels and posts sent by link in the chat are free and don't use up the daily allowance. Downloads inside the app are 50 a day on the free plan, and unlimited for 7 days each time a new friend you invited watches their first story. The Basic plan, from $4.99/month, removes the daily download limit.
