## How do you see reposts on Instagram?

Open the profile and tap the Reposts tab: it is the fourth tab, between Video and Tagged, and its icon is two arrows forming a loop. In a browser you can go straight to `instagram.com/<username>/reposts/`. Your own reposts are on your own profile, and someone else's are on theirs. If the account is public, you can also read the tab without the app through the [Instagram repost viewer](/instagram-repost-viewer).

We checked this on 23 October 2026 in the Instagram web version. A disclosure: StoriesFly makes the repost viewer linked in this article.

## How do I see someone's reposts on Instagram?

1. Open Instagram and go to the person's profile.
2. Look at the row of tabs under the bio. We saw five, in this order: Posts (grid icon), Reels, Video, Reposts, Tagged.
3. Tap Reposts, the fourth tab with the two-arrows icon.
4. Tap any item to open it. It shows the name and caption of the original author, not the person whose tab you are on.

On the web the same list is at `instagram.com/<username>/reposts/`, for example `instagram.com/instagram/reposts/`. It shows a grid of the reposted posts and reels.

If the profile is private and you do not follow it, its posts, reels and tabs stay closed. You would have to follow the account and be accepted first. Instagram changes layouts for some accounts, so if you do not see the tab, update the app and check again.

## How do I see my own reposts?

Open your own profile and tap the same Reposts tab, or open `instagram.com/<your username>/reposts/`. It is the tab other people see when they open your profile.

## What is a repost on Instagram?

Instagram introduced reposts on 6 August 2025. You can repost a public reel or feed post. A repost is "credited to the original poster", it is recommended to your friends' and followers' feeds, and it is kept in a separate tab on your profile so you can find it again.

To repost, tap the repost icon (the two-arrows loop) under a reel or post. Under a post the row of actions reads Like, Comment, Repost, Share, Save. You can add a short note in the thought bubble that appears and press save.

## Who can see my reposts on Instagram?

Anyone who can open your profile. A repost is a public action: Instagram says reposts are recommended to your friends' and followers' feeds and sit in a tab on your profile. If your account is private, only followers you approved see your posts and tabs, reposts included.

Reposts can also travel past your followers. Instagram says that if a creator's content is reposted, it may be recommended to the reposter's followers, even if they do not follow the creator. Meta also describes a Friends tab in Reels with content friends have liked, created, reposted or commented on.

## How do I remove my own repost?

Tap the repost icon again on the post you reposted; the icon is highlighted on posts you have reposted. If you do not see it there, check the Instagram Help Center.

## Why can't I see the Reposts tab?

- **The account is private and you do not follow it.** Tabs are shown only to approved followers.
- **The app is out of date.** Reposts arrived in August 2025, so an old app version may not show the tab. Update and look again.
- **The person has not reposted anything.** There may be nothing to show.

## Can I see a public account's reposts without the app or without logging in?

Yes, for public accounts. The [Instagram repost viewer](/instagram-repost-viewer) reads the Reposts tab of a public profile and shows it as a grid in your browser. Type the handle, sign in to StoriesFly with Telegram, Google or email (not with Instagram), and the tab comes back. Each tile links to the original post on Instagram.

What it does and does not do:

- It works for public accounts only. A private account's tab stays closed.
- It is free after sign-in for 1 profile and its first 12 reposts per UTC day.
- Basic and Pro read up to 10 pages (120 reposts) per profile per day.
- It does not notify you of new reposts, and deleted reposts are not kept.

It reads what one profile reposted. It does not tell you who reposted a particular post of yours; for that, read [who reposted my Instagram post](/blog/who-reposted-my-instagram-post).

## Is a repost the same as sharing a post to a story?

No. Sharing a feed post to your story is a separate feature. A story is shown for 24 hours, so it will not be in the Reposts tab, and unless it was saved to a highlight it is gone afterwards. To find a story that has expired, see [Instagram story archive explained](/blog/instagram-story-archive-explained).

## FAQ

### Where is the Reposts tab on Instagram?

On a profile it is the fourth tab, between Video and Tagged, with a two-arrows loop icon. On the web the address is instagram.com/username/reposts/.

### Can I see the reposts of a private account?

Only if you follow the account and it has approved you. The viewer on this site cannot open a private tab either.

### Does the repost viewer show when something was reposted?

No. The tiles are not guaranteed to be in time order and the grid has no repost dates.

### Is the repost viewer free?

Free after sign-in for one profile and its first 12 reposts per UTC day. Basic and Pro read up to 120 reposts per profile.

### Will I be told when someone I follow reposts again?

Not by the viewer: it has no notifications for new reposts.

### What if the person shared a post to their story instead?

That is not a repost and will not be in the tab. Unless they saved the story to a highlight, it is gone after 24 hours.
